Embracing the Challenge: Being an Independent Musician in Today’s Music Industry

Friday, November 24, 2023 (10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)

Being a musician is already one of the most unpredictable and challenging careers one can embark upon, and taking the leap to become an artist in the independent scene can sometimes seem like an unattainable dream. We discuss the nature, identity, and role that indie musicians play in today’s industry through the voices of two members from one of the youngest bands in our independent scene, Las Dianas; a musician who balances his artistic career in I Am Dive, true survivors of our indie scene, with another professional trajectory tied to one of the most active promoters in the Andalusian region, Rocknrolla; and the director of one of the main showcase festivals in Europe, Ment Ljubljana, as well as the founder of one of the most important labels born in the former Yugoslavia, Monlee Records.
